This West Town property, formerly a neighborhood grocery, was reimagined as a single-family residence in the 1990’s. Maintaining the private courtyard between house and the existing 3-car garage, the owner envisioned an expansion of their living space onto the garage roof. Combining a flush hot tub with dining, seating and raised planting beds, the roof deck can be accessed by either the garage stair or directly from the owner’s 2nd floor. 2 additional garage door openings were carved out to provide a flow-through party space on one side while opening up the artist studio space in back to the rear private patio. The use of a fun yet functional breezeblock will fence in the rear of the property from the alley.
